ok. since i'm free at the moment, i'll probably share some inner thoughts. supposed to be giving a class but my students are busy, so being flexible, i'm gonna give 'em a break and have it tomorrow instead. and no, i'm not a lecturer, nor a teacher. supposed to facilitate a skill-transfer program to the client's technical department. java class, hehe.
i have to admit i have a lot of catching up to do on the war issues. but there's simply too much biased information out there, you don't know which one to read. most medias have biased information, and the ones that don't have are under pressure, either politically or financially. most that were neutral have probably been bought up in hostile take overs. now who says money ain't everything? if you say that money ain't everything, u're probably ignorant, but being a visible and physical being that shares this limited space on earth with nearly 5 billion (or probably more) homo sapiens in this world, ignorance aren't really bliss. unless if u're meditating somewhere deep in the woods where you're cut off from the rest of the world. somehow, sooner or later u'll hear some tractor noise, and you'll realize that you can't avoid being ignorant anymore. no use sitting under the tree. they'll cut it down. if they're eco-conscious, they'll plant a small one in place of the old huge shady tree you once sat below in your quest for nirvana. no more shades for you. better find a cave then. then you'll find archeologists coming in and digging everything out, or probably just some people looking for bat droppings. you can run but you can't hide. sooner or later it'll come to you, and ram into your face head-on. ignorance ain't exactly bliss, my friend.
i'm being a bit off track, but let's get back to the topic. it seems that a lot of people have been promoting war. but who really wants war? i don't want war. i want to live in times of peace. i want a properous country, even more prosperous than roman times. come to think of it, it feels kind of exotic to be back in roman times, hehe. if i have the chance to step into a time machine, first destination : rome around ten years before the height of rome civilization. now, who really wants war? you may be led to think that nobody wants war, but believe me, most people want war to happen. most influential people anyway.
why is that? why do people want war? don't they want to live in times of peace, you may ask. nah. for us, the puny underlings, we want peace. because if u stare from high up the ranks, we, as citizens, are just a huge number of people (or supporters, or tools) to be utilized and manipulated by words and promises. in the eyes of people up there, we are nothing but tools. and as the public, having not much say in the affairs of the world, naturally we want a stable life, free of accidents and bad omens.
but who wants war? i'll tell you who. people up there. people up the ranks wants war. in that way, assets (who else? *wink*) will easily be manipulated. people will agree to almost anything when they're afraid, when they're gripped by fear. because who do they turn to in chaos? rite, people in power. plus war isn't a small issue. that's the exact reason. it ain't a small issue, and you leave a legacy if u're involved in war. plus, war pulls people's attention out of your spiders in your closet. plus, being humans, you tend to want to hate somebody. and this, can be manipulated into making you want war to happen. sadly, war is the ironic consequence of our own humanly weakness. you may think, "oh, i can do my bit to stop war". but think again, you're not only up against the few people up there. you're up against the entire public. heard of something called herd mentality? it's a very true fact, not just a myth. herd mentality exists. and that makes this world a scarier place to live.
who else wants war? it's something that you're exposed to everyday. can't think of it? i'll tell you. the media wants war. now why would the media want war? don't they want a safer place to live? naw.... war grips the puny underlings (yes, we the public) attention, and in times of war, you got tonnes of breaking news. yes, war sells. ironic.
let's not get into the issue of who's having the ammunitions and the weapons to sell. that you can figure out yourself. simple economics of supply and demand. clever businessman create demand when they have the supply, an even better strategy is to conceal that you even have the supply in the first place. bah! the struggles of money and power. does conscience play a role here? does it even exist in the deep arch of their hearts? now, considering all the pros war can bring, why on earth would they want to avoid war? peace doesn't sell. you don't create a legacy in times of peace. worse still, people don't remember you if you lead in times of peace. even worse, the erratic public (or the inquisitive media) will start looking for spiders in your closet in order to either appease their curiosity, or simply to sell papers so that they can meet the financial objectives of the investor, amongst them the public themselves. now, considering all that, who doesn't want war?
