have you been google-d?

just for kicks today, I did a search on my full name in google. yup, i google-d myself ;).

well, to digress a little bit, this is exactly why i want to remain anonymous on this blog. and what i mean by anonymous is not as in not letting frequent visitors know who i am, but anonymous as in not being able to find this blog by searching for my name on any search engines.

now, back to my search results. on my full name, i found 5 search results, with 3 directly related to me. one is a page from my alma mater (university) with reference to a startup me and 3 of my friends started, inactive since 3 of them went for masters, and i went a more conventional path, look for a job ;). the second is a page, also related to my alma mater (university) which is a gateway to a discussion forum i started and administered.

now, the third result, yes, the third result, is a surprising one. i didn't remember this entry when i google-d my name for routine anonimity check, around six months ago (yes, i do routine anonimity check once in a while, partly to ensure i'm still anonymous and partly, just for kicks. hehe) ... but this time, i saw this weird result.

at first look, i thought it's written by some other people sharing the same name as mine, but a closer look, and after a short while, everything just came back. the author of that post is yours truly, me! it was a post dated back in 1997, after i've finished spm but still a frequent visitor to a math & science (physics) newsgroup. my spm was '96, and the newsgroup is a favourite haunt of mine since i like to find difficult problems in maths and physics to sharpen my mind a little bit, in preparation for spm. i was very into these things that time (joined the olympiad quizzes and all), and at 1997, even though spm is already over for me, i still surf around a little and help people solve problems once in a while.

the shocking thing is this... i can't even understand my own solution! yup, even the question that was asked, i can't understand it. and i can't understand how i got the solution, and ... uh... oh.. i can't swallow this.

my god. i'm so rusty now. and my english is so much more "professional" sounding back then (compared to now... hehe). well, i think the reason why i can only find it now and not 6 months before, is because they recently archived the newsgroups postings online. i used to use a newsgroup reader (yup, not using the browser) to read those stuffs. was really into IRC and newsgroups back then.

ok, the finale. i'm sure if i don't include it, people who read this thread will scream at me in the comments page. hehe. so, here it is.

my 1997 thread (removed for security reasons)
