neo: i know kungfu

sorry lah blueky.. didn't update coz busy mah.... i went back to malacca this weekend but wasn't exactly free.. here's why...

i was at viva last thursday when my ex-boss called.
ex-boss : do you think it can be done that way? like how we discussed previously?
me : oh, sure! why not. it can be done quite easily, though they (her current employees) would need quite some time to master it. so have to factor that additional time in.
ex-boss : you sure it can be done easily?
me : *with apprehension* err, probably need quite some time. if they don't know cm8 then it will take quite some time.......
ex-boss : oh, i only have 1 day to do it.
me : errrr................

that's how i ended up at ibm on friday at 7pm to do work. till 4am. yup. and i was planning to go back to malacca on friday but postponed it to saturday instead. 10am bus. when i got back home at 5am i wasn't really sure if i could get up early enough to get to pudu before the bus leaves. luckily i reached there early, the bus came late *pout*

i told her i'm not gonna charge her anything, and she just have to reimburse whatever costs i incur as a result of doing this POC (proof-of-concept). however, i reminded her to at least give me something (as a reward :p) if she gets the project. now before you guys label me as stupid, let me just explain myself. well, i understand that i should be rewarded for my efforts beforehand, but i also understand that money isn't something abundant to her right now, and she's kinda finding it difficult to make ends meet (no projects currently). i don't feel nice squeezing people when they're at a loss and have nowhere to go. i would've said no if there had been somebody else who could've helped them, but sadly there's none.. so... *sigh*

and i wasn't sure whether it would take days for me to do it. it's a very new thing, and i only had training on how to install it, not how to program with it. sure, i had experience with the old version, but with the new version, the commands all changed. not just that, even the whole conceptual ideas changed. i did warn her that it might take some time even for me to do it. luckily, i finished it on time : ). although the server crashed after that and they had to reinstall it, called me on saturday morning 8am (i slept at 5am so i ignored this call), again at 8.30am (took this call) and again at 9am (already woke up a bit), and again at 10am (can't go back to sleep already) till my fully charged hp ran outta battery. and still can't solve it coz u just can't solve these problems through the phone. that's why consultants are so expensive i think, hehe.

so i went there at lunch time today and successfully (*phew*) set it up for them. the demo's tomorrow and i wish them all the best :) if they get it, this will be quite a break for them, at least cash for several months.

oh well, that's life. to quote neo's "i know kung fu" (when he looked up from his seat), i know cm8.2 java programming (*looks up from my seat*). heheheh.

yay!
