penang trip - the story

i woke up around 10++ yesterday on wednesday, woken up by my client's call. decided not to go to office, and head straight to studio instead. since it's early morning, and i don't need to go to work, everything slows down to a snail's pace within my room, and by the time i got out of the room, it was 11.30am. took a cab (rm 18 *cry*) to studio, and found that my s@lsa mates are getting ready for lunchie.

went for lunchie, hang out a while, waited till 1.30pm and we're off to penang! 4 cars went up, 2 cars went on their own, and 2 cars (i'm in one of them) went together. long long long journey and we reached just before 5pm, just before penang's massive 5pm jam (so we heard..).

headed straight to lu5h, checked out the place and the floor. it looked and felt slippery, cement with tiles. ewurghhh. but never mind.. hopefully the girls won't lose their balance and fall. my instructor went ahead to pre-coordinate the event (the songs, the sequence of teams etc etc..). we practised for a while, and by 6.45pm, 4 of us who were hungry decided to go out and eat. we went out, tried to look for char kuay teow, but because of the time limitation, we decided to just stop at a mamak stall and eat there :(

7.15pm, 2 others joined us, 7.30pm, our instructor joined us. at 7.50pm we headed back to lu5h, where my instructor's supposed to give a short workshop.

we changed (i was wearing t-shirt, jeans and slippers. can't dance in them, can i? :p) in the horrible horrible under-renovation-toilet, and discovered that s|ippery senor|t@ (another l@tin pub nearby) actually connects to lu5h within its hallways. cool! when we got back we were given numbers, and me and my partner were couple no. 4. shucks, i was hoping we could get it over and done with quickly. *nervous*

i ordered beer, my anti-stress medication. then ordered another one. then a fren bought me another one.. three bottles and i was still feeling nervous. damn...... at 9.30pm, the competition started with general dancing, where all competitors just go down to the dance floor and dance. after that break for a while, then another general dancing. you can see the judges sat at their places for a while, then stood up and went around the dancers jotting down something. damn nervous sial.... urghhh..

after another break, it's time for couples to actually perform their choreography. the first couple were good, really good choreography, but a little bit of mistakes. good cover up though, hope the judges didn't realize it. second couple, damn nice choreo that corresponds with the song, although at the end a little bit of mistakes. couple number 3 were really good! spectacular choreo, and i think they really stand a chance to win. by this time, i still think i wasn't ready yet.. we only choreo-ed first half of the song.. the second half is going to be impromptu! *nervous*nervous*

suddenly it's my turn. *shriek*

looked for my partner, and we got out and danced. everything went ok, except for the time when her elbow hit my head. what to do, just keep smiling :) and continue with our choreography :p. our choreography wasn't as good as couple no. 1, 2 or 3.. not as complex as couple no. 1 and 3, but at least i feel proud that it's fully choreographed ourselves, and not choreo-ed by other people. i think the first couple choreo-ed themselves but couple 3, what i heard is that theirs were choreo-ed by their instructor, unconfirmed though.. doesnt' matter lah.. my second half were like shit coz i was nervous and i couldn't think. first half were ok coz it was choreo-ed so everything flowed like it should. the second half of the song my brain just froze like a can of worms fresh out of fridge, and i did only simple simple moves :p the rest of the couples i didn't really pay any attention (sorry!) but i was too happy that it was over and done with :p. no more pressure hehe.

after another short break, the results were announced, and surprisingly i got second. couple no. 3 got first, and couple no. 1 third. woooo. 3 couples will be chosen from penang heats for the finals 2 weeks from now, so i guess we're in. that would be really tough, because the finalists so far are really really good. wait till the singaporeans join in the finalist ranks at the jb heats next week, then things will really heat up. they are, seriously, really really good.

i suck!!!

p.s. reached home at 5am, came to work at noon :p. [quote] team leader : no you are not allowed to use the internet because you asked for a half day's leave and you end up taking one and a half day's leave. [unquote] *choke*
