IT or non-IT :second installment of other people's rants ;)
i have an acquaintance who's working with a major IT firm in the country, who recently quit, and joined another major IT implementor. a few months later, he quit again, and joined the auto industry as a management trainee.
according to him, "i'm just sick of how the IT industry are treating the technical people". he said that it's too easy to master languages, to master the 'skills' needed for IT, just a matter of a month's reading to catch up for newbies. he also said that he felt like a factory worker, and the management didn't have the trust to even give them (i presume the lower-rung technical people like.. errm.. developers and programmers) the responsibility of doing requirements study, or even direct contact with customers. and in his last IT job, the company (quite a major IT implementor) didn't even bother to hide the fact from the employees!
well, he's just sick of it all, and wanted a change. quoting him, "i don't think IT industry is worth the effort and time spent."
