sunday was hot. real hot. which prompted me to follow beng and clamity to town, l0w y@tt, specifically.
and i walked out the building with a package that has "impulse buy" written all over it : DVD ROM + CD RW combo drive.
yes, i'm not a techno geek.
yes, i don't upgrade my faithful 5 year-old @cer PII 350 computer that comes with cheapo onboard chipsets. of those 5 years, there was only 2 upgrades. first, 64MB to 128MB RAM. and second, 128MB to 256MB RAM.
however, for the past 6 months, there was 3 upgrades (yes, to an ancient 5-year-old-computer):
- creative sb live! 5.1 sound card
- creative soundworks FPS 1500 4.1 speakers
- DVD-ROM + CD-RW combo (yesterday)
all in the name of enhanced movie experience :). i figured that since i use the PC mainly to watch movies, i might as well spend a little bit of cash to enhance the whole movie experience (read: VCDs to DVDs and surround sound). no point buying a new PC since it'll get outdated in a while, and i don't even play games these days. so, voila(!), now i can watch DVDs! with surround!
oh, plus enhanced s@lsa music experience too.

p.s. minimum requirements for PowerDVD that comes included with the drive - PII 350. *whew*
