taxee tip

just got back from s'pore. reached here around midnite, then scores of taxi drivers came up to me asking me if i wanted it or not.

TIP #1 : Unless you're desperate, don't take cabs that gives a flat rate. It always cost more than the metred ride. Flag down a cab instead. This tip doesn't only apply at bus terminals, it also includes other places, i.e entertainment outlets (be@ch club) and shopping centres (l0t 10) etc etc.
TIP #2 : Never take cabs that's parked alongside the roads, especially when there's a long line of them. They never use metres.

Armed with both tips above, I strolled down the road. Got a taxi that's moving on the road (tip #1), but then he's the same gang like the rest parked alongside the road, flat rate, rm 15. i simply slammed shut his door and move on.

30 metres down, after ignoring 3 or 4 cab drivers standing on the side of the road asking "want a taxi?", i finally stopped at one, since it's already like 30 metres, and quite far from the scavengers, though there is still taxis parked along the road.

me : guna meter?
cab driver : *ignores question* pergi mana?
me : *belts out my place's name*
cab driver : dua puluh
me : *ignores him and walks on*

sigh. terrible people. walked another 5 metres, flagged down a cab, asked him if he uses meter, got the affirmative (he reminded me that it's past midnite and therefore there's a surcharge. i just nodded).

the cost? rm 10.
