in bombay 3

was slacking off in hotel this morning, taking my own sweet time, turned on the tv, colleague made tea for me, even though it's well over 9.30am.

me: don't we have to get to office on time?
colleague: yeah, we need to. what are u waiting for?
me: i'm waiting for u!
colleague: I'M waiting for u!
me: are we going to have breakfast?
colleague: of course!

hehe. ok so both of us took our own sweet time. he's more senior so i guess it's alrite. bwahahha. the routine as usual, bathe, watch tv (good submarine show!), send clothes for ironing, ate breakfast, usual breakfast chit chat, get a cab and reach office.

reach office? wait. not so fast. rewind back.

ok, in the taxi, i saw this commotion everywhere. seems like they're celebrating a kind of festival. asked my colleague, my colleague doesn't know. he asked the taxi driver, the driver said it's not a festival but something to do with some political stuff. there's buses and small lorries filled with people, similar to wesak day commotions u can see back at home.

then, it happened. about 10 metres away, *splash*. wha-? what was that? then it happened again. this time i saw it. a water balloon!

me: wow, water balloon! why are they playing with water for a political thingy?
colleague: it's not water. it's some sort of coloured water.

*taxi driver winds up his window*

*staring like dungu*

[realization] *quickly winds up window*

i'm so slow. tsk tsk. anyways, it's not a water festival like the ones you get in thailand.. i kept asking my colleague why is this for, why do they do all this when it's just a political thing, but he can't give any satisfactory answer. gave up. however, i found out that this is happening all around town.

then i saw kids, forming a human pyramid. then suddenly i see SCORES of water balloons being thrown at the human pyramid! aha! now i know what the water balloons are for. target practice! :P

above the human pyramids, are something tied to a string that spanned between buildings. it's the human pyramid's objective, to get to that thing. i saw this human pyramid, being constructed quickly, while being a target practice by the people watching from the flats. it's so fun to watch, human pyramid being constructed amongst gong sounds (similar to those u hear during lion dances) those water balloons hitting the pyramid, their shirts stained with the purple colour when they got hit, slipping, then trying to construct the pyramid back.

then finally the pyramid got constructed properly, and the boy on top reached for the objective, did what seemed like some untying action, then quickly he pulled something and water came gushing down.

everybody cheered.

moo out!
