saving money

lets face it, saving money is one way to increase our networth. i know i'm stating the obvious, but to most people, when you mention "increase networth", what comes to mind are things like investing, doing business, real estate, using OPM (other people's money) and others, not saving. sure, all those are ways to increase the networth, but nothing beats plain ol' saving, at least in the very beginning.

coming here has been quite an eye opener. although i know that i bleed money throughout my working years, i've never realized how much i really pissed away (in the literal sense since most of it was spent on drinks) until i see the number in the balance statement increase chunk by chunk, owing to the fact that i became a forced prisoner over here with its lack of clubs and dancing scene.

anyway, fast forward to today, instead of kais pagi makan pagi, now i have at least a little of what you call networth. and i'm bent on increasing it!

i'm about 65% towards accomplishing my immediate objective - and I'm giving myself until the end of next year to achieve this. however, according to my calculations, if I can decrease my spending to two-thirds of what I used to spend (which is basically all of my salary), and save the rest, I will be able to reach the objective by September 2007.

i will use this blog to keep track of the progress month-by-month, in order to motivate myself. they say if you write down your objectives and tell everyone you know about it, it is more likely that it'll come true :P. to me, it's just an attempt to let the fear of being looked down upon drive you.

well, whatever that works. :)
